Each summer, the City of Palm Coast’s Parks and Recreation Department hosts its Pedal in the Park event – a casual bike ride that invites residents and visitors to explore scenic areas of the city, including stops at Linear Park and Waterfront Park. This year’s ride drew 23 participants who braved the summertime heat to enjoy fun, fitness, and a little education along the way.

“Pedal in the Park is unique in that it brings out residents and visitors alike, that want to connect with the community and perhaps learn some facts about our parks, trails and wildlife that inhabit our area,” said Geena Catalano, Community Recreation Supervisor. “Not only are the parks on our route some of the most scenic that we have in our city, but they are also a great place to see manatees, dolphins and more along the intracoastal.”

During this year’s ride, participants were treated to a special sighting of a manatee in the Intracoastal Waterway – just one of the many highlights that inspired positive feedback from attendees.

While Pedal in the Park takes place only once a year, residents and visitors looking for biking in the area can find a number of opportunities to do so year-round with Palm Coast Parks and Recreation, including PC Cyclists, which has social and faster-paced events, beginning on September 17. For a full roster of upcoming events and programs visit the Parks and Recreation online catalog and registration page.
