The City of Palm Coast is recognizing the National Hurricane Center’s Hurricane Preparedness Week, taking place May 4 through May 10, 2025. As the Atlantic hurricane season approaches—officially beginning June 1 and running through November 30—residents are urged to start planning and preparing now.

Each year, Florida faces the potential impacts of tropical storms and hurricanes, and preparation is key to protecting your home, your family, and your community. The City of Palm Coast encourages residents to take this week as an opportunity to review emergency plans, gather supplies, and stay informed.

Throughout the week, the City will share daily tips on social media to help residents prepare for severe weather. These topics include:

  • Understanding your risk
  • Developing an evacuation plan
  • Helping neighbors
  • Writing down your emergency plan
  • Assembling disaster supplies
  • Strengthening your home

Residents can also sign up for alerts with ALERTFlagler, a no-cost emergency notification system that sends alerts to your email, phone, or text. Residents can customize which alerts they want to receive, from severe weather to evacuation notices, and even set a “quiet time” during which non-urgent alerts will be paused (critical alerts like tornado warnings will still be delivered). To register, visit www.flaglercounty.gov/AlertFlagler.

Residents are also encouraged to visit www.palmcoast.gov/emergency/hurricanes for local emergency preparedness resources, including evacuation zone maps, supply checklists, and more. Stay safe and take the steps now to ensure you're ready before a storm hits.
