Hurricane Season officially begins on Sunday, June 1, and the City of Palm Coast is encouraging all residents to stay informed and prepared. One of the best ways to do that is by visiting the City’s Emergency Preparedness webpage at palmcoast.gov/emergency and signing up for AlertFlagler. This free alert system, offered by Flagler County Emergency Services, provides timely updates about severe weather, natural disasters, and other emergencies through phone calls, texts, and emails—keeping you informed when it matters most.
While Hurricane Milton was the only storm to directly impact Palm Coast in 2024, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is predicting a 60% chance of an above-normal hurricane season in 2025. This year’s outlook includes between 13 and 19 named storms with winds of at least 39 miles per hour. Of those, NOAA expects 6 to 10 to become hurricanes with winds of 74 miles per hour or higher, and 3 to 5 to become major hurricanes with winds exceeding 111 miles per hour.
Although there is no current storm activity in the Atlantic, residents are urged to remain alert and monitor weather updates throughout the season, which runs through November 30. The City of Palm Coast will continue working closely with Flagler County Emergency Services to ensure residents receive accurate and up-to-date information about any developing tropical weather.
Now is the time to take action. Visit palmcoast.gov/emergency to access the County’s comprehensive disaster preparedness guide and learn how to protect yourself and your family from hurricanes, flooding, tornadoes, lightning, and more. Preparation today can make all the difference tomorrow.
