The Palm Coast Fire Department’s annual 9/11 Candlelight Memorial will return to Heroes Memorial Park this Thursday September 11, 2025, at 6:30pm, in commemoration of the 24th Anniversary of the attacks. The solemn memorial will honor and remember those that were lost on 9/11 and the days since.
For years, Heroes Memorial Park has served a place to reflect and remember 9/11, and on September 11, 2021, the Palm Coast Fire Department planted a tree at the park that direct descends from what has been deemed the “Survivor Tree,” a single surviving Callery Pear Tree that was discovered at Ground Zero. The tree was recovered broken and burned, before being rehabilitated and returned to Ground Zero on September 11, 2011, the 10th anniversary of the attacks.
The event will feature remarks from local dignitaries, representatives from Palm Coast Fire Department, Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, and Palm Coast City Council. Both the Palm Coast Fire Department and Flagler County Sheriff’s Office will contribute musical performances as well.
The public is encouraged to attend the event, and candles will be provided to all attendees. Heroes Memorial Park is located at 2860 Palm Coat Parkway NW. Due to limited parking at Heroes Memorial Park, additional parking will be available on Corporate Drive – directly across the street from the park, adjacent to Palm Coast Fire Station 21. In case of inclement weather, the event will take place inside Fire Station 21.
