The Community Development Director will be passionate about planning for the future of Palm Coast and fostering development that helps meet the cities vision.  This position articulates expectations, develops strategy, analyzes, and evaluates results to drive improvements to the City's development processes. They will lead and inspire a team of dedicated planners, building officials, code enforcement officials, and professional staff.  Develops strategies to advance City Council key initiatives and priorities related to improving the perception of the City's business friendliness, while maintaining the City's high standards for the built environment. This position will also foster interdepartmental relationships and external partnerships to further some of these key initiatives.  Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field; supplemented by more than eight (8) years professional experience in the field, to include four (4) years within a supervisory/management capacity; or demonstrate an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.  

Under general direction from the Chief Accountant, the purpose of the job is to perform moderately complex accounting work according to generally accepted standard accounting principles, established procedures, departmental guidelines, and regulatory requirements applicable to the work.  Employees in this job classification function at journey professional level to accomplish assigned functions according to established schedules, calendars, projects, and programs of the department. This position will work with departments to assist with annual budgeting, capital project tracking, and other accounting questions/issues.  Work includes researching and collecting data, preparing clear and concise financial reports, and monitoring expenditures and revenues of assigned divisions and/or departments.  Performs related work as directed. Bachelor's degree in accounting with a minimum of five (5) years responsible experience in the field or combination of education and experience. Local government accounting experience required. Must possess a valid Florida Driver's license. 

Under direct supervision, the purpose of the job is to perform routine accounting and general administrative support work according to generally accepted standard accounting principles, established administrative procedures, departmental guidelines, and regulatory requirements applicable to the work.  Employees in this job classification function at entry/staff level to accomplish assigned functions according to established schedules, calendars, projects, and programs of the department. Work includes data entry, posting, maintenance and reconciliation of tasks relevant to assigned functional areas, e.g., accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, accounting records and reports, and general administration.  Must possess two (2) years responsible experience in accounting work, e.g., processing invoices and requisitions, payments, stop payments, maintaining general ledger accounts, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.

The Parks & Recreation Department is seeking a part-time Facility & Guest Attendant to join their team.  Under general supervision, the essential part of this position is setting up and breaking down tables and chairs which requires constant lifting of up to 25+ pounds. This position may support public recreation activities and provide customer service involving parks, facilities, activities, and programs.  Employees in this classification function at entry level to perform both routine and non-routine duties as dictated by the nature of the work promoting efficient and organized operation of departmental activities. The position will occasionally coordinate and oversee work, scheduling, fee collections and assists in maintaining facilities.   Requires a High School Diploma or GED.  Must possess one year of customer service, cash handling & computer skills preferred. This is part-time position of varying hours to include evenings, weekends, & holidays. 

Under general supervision, the purpose of this position is to transport students to and from planned activities, events, and other functions.  Objective is to provide safe transportation for students and other parties.  Must possess a High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by one (1) year experience in student transportation, public transportation, or current employment as a Bus Driver with Flagler County Schools (due to using Flagler County School buses), or related work experience.  Position requires a Class B CDL license (Passenger and Air Brake endorsement).  

We are seeking a Recreation Leader 11/Events candidate to join our team!  The purpose of the position is to assist and execute special events and recreation programs, including planning for future programs/events.  Employees in this classification perform at entry staff level and are responsible for providing a safe recreational environment for the assigned community programs, youth activities and/or special events provided by the city.  Employee works with independence and initiative within established policies and procedures.  Performs other duties as dictated by the nature of the program.  Must possess and maintain, or be able to obtain, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, & AED certifications. This is a part-time position; selected candidate will be required to work fifteen hours a week.   

Recreation Leader II - Requires two (2) years previous experience in special events, hospitality/tourism, recreation programming, or within a similar environment.  Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.

Camp Counselor 2 - requires, in addition to above, (2) yrs. previous exp. in childcare, day camp, youth recreation, or camp program within a similar recreational or educational environment starting at $16.39 - $18.58 p/h. 

Must possess a High School Diploma or GED. Candidates are required to possess and maintain current CPR, First Aid, & AED certifications. City of Palm is offering In-house training and certifications to include certifications in; CPR, First Aid, and AED. Training will begin in May.  Must be available to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends with varying hours.

Our Public Works Department is currently seeking a Maintenance Worker, EO1, or EO2 to join their team!  Daily work activities include, mowing, weeding, landscaping and removal of trash and debris. Staff can expect to be exposed to inclement weather, hazardous wildlife, and difficult environmental conditions on a regular basis. 

Maintenance Worker - Must possess a minimum of two (2) years responsible experience in grounds keeping and or general maintenance.

Equipment Operator 1 - Must possess (11) months experience and operates light to heavy equipment and the ability to perform labor intensive work within difficult environmental conditions to include frequent lifting, pulling, and pushing of 50 lbs. Must possess a Class "B" CDL license.

Equipment Operator 11 - Must possess three (3) years of light and heavy equipment operating experience including but not limited to operation of backhoe, front-end loader, excavator, skid steer, gradall, etc. Must have the ability to perform labor-intensive work within difficult environmental conditions to include frequent lifting, pulling, and pushing of 50 lbs.  

All positions require a High School Diploma or GED and a valid Florida Driver's license.   Prefers candidates with verifiable experience in mowing and landscaping and working with prison inmate crews.   

City of Palm Coast Public Works Department is seeking temporary worker's to join their team! Daily work activities will include, mowing, weed-wacking, and removal of trash and debris. Staff can expect to be exposed to inclement weather, hazardous wildlife, and difficult environmental conditions on a regular basis. Preferred candidates will possess verifiable experience in mowing and general landscaping.  Duration of assignment expected, two weeks up to six months of employment with a potential of possibly being employed full-time in the future. All positions require a High School Diploma or GED. 

This position will join the Stormwater Maintenance division as a member of a swale, ditch, or pipe maintenance crew.  Depending on level of experience, candidates may be hired as MW, E01 or E02.  All positions perform work related duties to include the installation, maintenance, and repair of the city stormwater system. 

Maintenance Worker -  Must possess a minimum of (2) years experience in grounds keeping and/or general maintenance.

Equipment Operator 1 - Must possess (11) months experience and operates light to heavy equipment and the ability to perform labor intensive work within difficult environmental conditions to include frequent lifting, pulling, and pushing of 50 lbs. Must possess a Class "B" CDL license.

City of Palm Coast Stormwater and Engineering Department is seeking temporary workers to help maintain the city stormwater system. Daily work activities will include manual labor and equipment operation directed towards swale, pipe, ditch, and canal maintenance projects. Preferred candidates will possess verifiable experience in general maintenance work and heavy equipment operation. Possession of a current Class A or Class B CDL is a definite plus. Duration of assignment is variable but staff in this position will have the opportunity to learn new skills and techniques as they relate to the maintenance of our city stormwater system while also being provided an opportunity for hands-on, real world evaluation towards potential full-time status as those openings arise. This position is perfect for those who would like more exposure to city maintenance operations and to gain more relevant work experience. Staff can expect to be exposed to inclement weather, hazardous wildlife, and difficult environmental conditions on a regular basis. All positions require a High School Diploma or GED. 

This position will join the Stormwater Maintenance division as a member of our canal maintenance crew. This crew is tasked with weir and pump station maintenance, headwall maintenance and repair, boat ramp maintenance and repair, SCADA system operation and maintenance, mowing and vegetation removal, and oversight of contractors engaged in aquatic weed spraying and harvesting. 

Depending on level of experience, candidates may be hired as MW, E01 or E02. All positions perform work related duties to include the installation, maintenance and repair of the City infrastructure development and public properties management.

Maintenance Worker - Must possess a minimum of (2) years responsible experience in grounds keeping and or general maintenance.

Equipment Operator 1 - Must possess (11) months experience and operates light to heavy equipment and the ability to perform labor intensive work within difficult environmental conditions to include frequent lifting, pulling and pushing of 50 lbs. Must possess a Class "B" CDL license.

Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform skilled work involving the routine maintenance and repair of equipment, machinery, and tools associated with the Stormwater Maintenance division.  Employee performs complex repair and maintenance work and provides daily operational support through equipment transport and relocation using a lowboy tractor-trailer. This position also supports maintenance staff with mechanical repair and troubleshooting needs associated with our canal weir control structures and stormwater pumping station. Preferred candidates will possess past experience in small engine maintenance and repair to include various EETC (Equipment and Engine Training Council) certifications.

Must possess a High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by five (5) years responsible experience in both small and heavy equipment preventative maintenance and repair; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must posses a current Class A CDL (or the ability to obtain within 9 months of hire).

Our Utility Department, Water Distribution division is seeking a Utility System Technician 1 or 2 to join their team!  Depending on level of experience candidates may be hired as UST 1 or UST 2.  Under supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform a wide range of routine labor-intensive work in the installation, maintenance and repair of city water and sewer systems.
 
Utility System Technician 1

Employees in this classification function at entry level. Routine tasks are performed with some independence, and more difficult work is performed under direct supervision. Objective is to maintain utility systems and facilitate safe and efficient transporting of water/wastewater throughout the City.  Must have one (1) year experience in public utilities or other large-scale commercial plumbing systems, and be able to obtain a Class B CDL license with tanker endorsement within six months of employment; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. General construction experience may be considered.

Utility Systems Technician 2 

Employees in this classification function at journey level, and are accountable for operating, maintaining, and performing minor repairs on utility vehicles and equipment. Position is distinguished from that of the Utility Systems Technician I, by the level of independence the employee functions in, as a result of the advanced laboring knowledge acquired through training and work experience. Objective is to maintain utility systems and facilitate safe and efficient transporting of water/wastewater throughout the city. Must have (2) years' experience in public utilities or other large scale commercial plumbing systems, basic electrical knowledge, and the ability to obtain a Class B CDL license with tanker endorsement within six months of employment; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.  Where applicable, must possess and maintain a FWPCOA certification preferred.  All positions require a High School Diploma or GED.  Must possess a valid Florida Driver's license.
