The City of Palm Coast’s Food Truck Tuesday is set to return next Tuesday, August 20, with proceeds from this month’s event benefitting the Matanzas High School Band of Pirates and Color Guard Booster Club.

This will mark the first Food Truck Tuesday event for the organization, which is comprised of parents and guardians of band and color guard members, who utilize their various fundraising efforts throughout the year to help with covering costs of band events, travel, materials and program scholarships.

“Being a member of the band helps our students enjoy a sense of fellowship, while allowing them to learn life skills that can have a tremendous impact far beyond the years that they are in the program,” said booster club President Staci Palmer Barra. “We are thankful that we are able to take part in events like Food Truck Tuesday, involving our community and bolstering the efforts to make every student’s experience special.”

Drum Majors Reina Harper and Erica Rimstidt, both incoming Seniors for Matanzas High School’s class of 2025, stressed the importance of camaraderie when leading the 120-plus students that participate in the band program and being an example for incoming Freshmen students that are currently taking part in the Summer Band Camp in preparation for the school year.

“The whole purpose of our band camp is to make everyone feel welcome and become a family together,” Harper says. “Doing this allows us to create that bond that really enables us to communicate effectively as one unit while having fun,” she added. “Music for me is really about finding that sense of community and creating a sense of belonging where everyone feels welcome so that they can be their very best,” Rimstidt said.

Food Truck Tuesday will take place from 5-8pm on Tuesday, August 20 and will include variety of family fun including a DJ, face painting and a special performance by the MHS band. Food trucks participating in this month’s event are as follows:
