Employment
Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled to skilled vehicle and equipment operation in the installation, maintenance and repair tasks associated with City stormwater system infrastructure. Depending on level of experience, candidates may be hired as MW, E01, or E02.
This position will primarily be responsible for the oversight and support of prison inmate work crews engaged in the mowing and ongoing maintenance of Stormwater ditches. Preferred candidates will possess past experience as correctional officers and / or currently be certified by the Florida Department of Corrections to supervise prison inmate work crews. This is a working position in the field that will require the chosen candidate to operate light and heavy equipment in harsh field environments. Candidates must be comfortable supervising, transporting, and assuming direct responsibility for prison inmate crews in the absence of certified correctional officers.
Maintenance Worker - Must possess a minimum of (2) years experience in grounds keeping and/or general maintenance.
Equipment Operator 1 - Must possess (11) months experience and operates light to heavy equipment and the ability to perform labor intensive work within difficult environmental conditions to include frequent lifting, pulling and pushing of 50 lbs. Must possess a Class "B" CDL license.
Equipment Operator 11 - Must possess (3) years of light and heavy equipment operating experience including but not limited to operation of backhoe, front end loader, excavator, skid steer, gradall, etc. Must have the ability to perform labor-intensive work within difficult environmental conditions to include frequent lifting, pulling and pushing of 50 lbs. Must possess a Class "A" CDL license.
Strong heavy equipment operator skills, mowing and landscaping experience, and a current Class-A CDL are preferred, however in-house training can be provided. All positions require a High School Diploma or GED and must possess and maintain a Florida Driver's License.
