The City of Palm Coast wants to congratulate Palm Coast Fire Department’s (PCFD) Deputy Chief Bradd Clark on completing his second term as chair of the International Fire Service Training Association (IFSTA) Executive Board.

The IFSTA was established in 1931 when Oklahoma A&M College assumed the role of the state’s fire training. Its name changed officially to the International Fire Service Training Association when the first Canadian participants joined the organization in 1955. The mission of the IFSTA is to provide high-quality, technically accurate, and affordable training material and excellent customer service to the fire and emergency services.

Deputy Chief Clark began his fire service career in Poquoson, Virginia, in 1984. Since then, Chief Clark has participated as chair/delegate on many IFSTA validation committees including Fire Detection and Suppression, Aerial Apparatus Driver/Operator Handbook, Essentials, and Safety Officer. Chief Clark recently received a 25-year IFSTA participation recognition, and was first elected to the Executive Board in 2005.

“We are so proud of Chief Clark and the amazing work he has done while serving on the IFSTA executive board,” said incoming Fire Chief Kyle Berryhill. “The IFSTA is a very prestigious institution that really leads the fire service in a lot of ways, not only here in Palm Coast but across the country. We really appreciate Chief Clark’s service on the board and his dedication to helping firefighters everywhere.”

The IFSTA executive board consists of no less than 15 and no more than 18 members. Duties of the Board include establishing policies, projects, approving scope and purpose statements, approving titles for new and revised training materials, advising Fire Protection Publications on pertinent matters, and maintaining external relations with other organizations.
