In preparation for Hurricane Ian, the City of Palm Coast will close all City facilities on Tuesday, September 27 at 12 p.m. through September 30, due to expected impacts in the area. This includes all activities at City Hall, the Palm Coast Community Center, the Utility Office, the Palm Harbor Golf Course, and the Palm Coast Tennis Center.

City staff will be working through the Emergency Operations Center at City Hall to monitor and respond to the storm throughout the duration of the event.

Also, the city’s Customer Service division will have phone lines open for 24 hours until the storm has passed beginning at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, September 27. The City has activated its emergency website in preparation for the storm and pertinent storm-related information can be found on the main page at PalmCoast.gov.

The Customer Service phone number is 386-986-2360 or residents can submit a ticket through Palm Coast Connect

Additionally, with tropical storm force winds expected as early as Thursday morning, garbage collection has been suspended for Thursday and Friday. The next pick-up day will be the regularly scheduled day next week, weather-dependent. Yard debris collection will take place on Wednesday, as usual. There should be no debris left outside by 6 p.m. Wednesday evening. Residents are encouraged to bring their garbage cans inside the garage or secured for the duration of the storm.

Sandbag operations are ongoing Monday until 6 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at three locations throughout Palm Coast:

  • Palm Coast Public Works Yard, 1 Wellfield Grade, off U.S. 1 just north of Palm Coast Parkway, Palm Coast.
  • Daytona State College, 3000 Palm Coast Parkway SE, Palm Coast.
  • Indian Trails Sports Complex, 5455 Belle Terre Pkwy, Palm Coast

In the event of a power outage, if the residence uses a PEP tank system, conserve water as much as possible. Water usage during these times could risk waste backing up into homes. PEP systems rely on electricity to pump the waste out to the sewer system. Learn more about PEP tanks during a storm here: https://www.palmcoast.gov/emergency/pep-tanks-during-a-storm
